Dovers Drive, Port Kembla

Dovers Drive, Hill 60 is a home as magnificent as the location. Designed by award-winning design specialist Michael Jenkins, architect Laura Southworth and constructed by SaltBox Building, Vollers has had the pleasure of fabricating and supplying a roofing solution to match the elegant design and bold surroundings. Featured in this project is premium Bluescope Colorbond Ultra steel roofing in a standard Monument finish with complementary downpipes, gutters, flashings and custom fascia boards. The chosen materials not only provide a sleek finish, but one with lasting effect.

Thanks to the incredible handiwork and craftsmanship of the team at SaltBox Building, we introduce Dovers Drive.

“Sitting on top of Hill 60 Port Kembla and facing south, this new build was always going to be up against the elements. High winds, driving rain and a highly corrosive environment were just a few of the challenges we faced during the construction period and will have to contend with into the future.”

“Vollers supplied the material for the two main roofs and the custom facia boards and barge boards. Vollers also manufactured and produced working drawings for two 4mm thick aluminium slimline roofs for the entrance and over the stairwell. Included in this design were upturns in the aluminium to create a basin effect to catch the rainwater and create flashing between the walls and roof.”

“Off the back of the building is a timber deck and stairs. The stair risers were folded and finished in 6mm Corten steel by Lander Metals. The owners requested a copper front entrance door, so two pieces of sheet copper folded on all sides and joined on the edges around a solid core door. The dramatic effect of the door ageing process could be seen only after six months.”
